Service Conditions

Carlton The Mechanic LLC
Effective July 6, 2025  |  Last Updated October 18, 2026

Carlton The Mechanic provides mobile automotive service by coming to you. This page explains what customers should have ready before the appointment and what to expect when service is being performed at their location.

These are practical service guidelines for a smooth mobile appointment. They are not a replacement for the Terms of Service.

1. BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

Please have the vehicle available at the scheduled appointment time and make sure Carlton can access the vehicle.

  • Have the vehicle at the agreed service location.
  • Have the vehicle accessible from the areas needed for the service.
  • Have the vehicle keys available.
  • Remove items that block access to the vehicle or the area being serviced.
  • Let Carlton know about any important changes or new symptoms before service begins.
  • If you booked a Labor Only service, have all required parts and materials at the service location and make sure they are correct for your vehicle. Section 14 (Customer-Supplied Parts) of the Terms of Service applies.

Trip charge: If the appointment is cancelled after Carlton has begun traveling to the service location, if, when Carlton arrives, the vehicle is unavailable, inaccessible, unsafe to service, or materially different from the information provided at booking, or if the appointment cannot proceed because of customer-supplied parts, a trip charge of $49 or the amount paid for the appointment, whichever is less, may apply as described in the Terms of Service.

2. SAFE WORK AREA

Because Carlton The Mechanic provides mobile service, the vehicle needs to be located somewhere Carlton can safely work on it.

Whenever the requested service allows, the vehicle should be parked on a safe, level, paved surface, such as a private driveway or garage, with adequate clearance around the vehicle. The customer is responsible for providing a reasonably safe, accessible, and legal work area.

Unsafe roadside locations, unstable ground, insufficient workspace, aggressive animals, fire hazards, hazardous materials, threatening behavior, or other unsafe conditions may prevent service from beginning or continuing.

Please avoid locations that create unnecessary hazards, block access to the vehicle, or prevent the requested service from being performed safely. If the location does not allow the service to be performed safely, the appointment may need to be rescheduled, and the trip charge described in Section 1 may apply.

If the service location is an apartment complex, a neighborhood with a homeowners association, a workplace parking lot, or any other property you do not own, please make sure mobile vehicle service is allowed there and that you have any permission needed from the property owner, landlord, homeowners association, property manager, or employer.

3. WEATHER CONDITIONS

Because Carlton The Mechanic provides mobile service, weather conditions can affect travel and the ability to safely perform certain services at the vehicle's location.

Examples of conditions that may affect service include:

  • Severe thunderstorms
  • Lightning
  • Heavy rain
  • Flooding
  • Tornadoes
  • Hail
  • Snow
  • Ice
  • High winds
  • Extreme heat or cold
  • Other hazardous weather conditions

When weather conditions make travel or the requested service unsafe or impractical, the appointment may need to be delayed, adjusted, or rescheduled.

Safety comes first. Weather-related decisions are based on the conditions present at the time of service and the safety of traveling to and working at the vehicle's location.

4. TRAFFIC AND TRAVEL DELAYS

Carlton The Mechanic is a mobile service, so travel time can be affected by traffic and road conditions.

Heavy traffic, accidents, road construction, lane closures, detours, severe weather, emergency activity, or other unexpected road conditions may cause arrival delays.

Scheduled appointment times are estimated arrival windows, not guaranteed arrival times. When an unexpected delay occurs, Carlton will communicate the delay when reasonably possible.

5. WHEN CARLTON ARRIVES

Carlton will review the vehicle and the requested service before beginning the work.

Depending on the service, this may include a visual inspection, discussion of the vehicle concern, or other preliminary checks needed to begin the service properly.

6. DURING SERVICE

Please allow enough room around the vehicle for Carlton to work with the necessary tools and equipment.

Customers are welcome to communicate questions or provide additional information about the vehicle. During active work, customers should remain clear of the immediate work area when requested so the service can be performed safely and efficiently.

7. VEHICLE ACCESS

Some services require access to different areas of the vehicle.

Depending on the service, Carlton may need access to the engine compartment, interior, wheels, brakes, underside, electrical components, or other areas of the vehicle.

Keeping these areas reasonably accessible helps the appointment move as smoothly as possible.

8. VEHICLE CONDITION

The condition of a vehicle can affect how a service is performed.

Existing damage, corrosion, seized components, previous repairs, modifications, or other conditions may become apparent when the vehicle is inspected or worked on.

If something is discovered that affects the service being performed, Carlton will explain the finding to the customer. Additional repairs or services outside the booked service are quoted separately, and customer approval will be requested before that work is performed whenever reasonably practical.

9. PREVIOUS REPAIRS

If the vehicle has recently been worked on by another mechanic or repair facility, please let Carlton know before service begins.

Knowing about recent repairs or other work performed on the vehicle can help provide useful background when servicing the vehicle.

10. CUSTOMER PRESENCE

Customers may remain present during service when the service location and working conditions allow.

Customers should remain clear of the immediate work area while tools, equipment, or vehicle components are being handled.

Carlton may ask a customer to move to a safe location during portions of the service.

11. VEHICLE OPERATION

Certain services may require the vehicle to be operated or test-driven as part of the service.

If vehicle operation is necessary, Carlton will determine when and how the vehicle should be operated based on the service being performed and the conditions at the time. This may include starting, moving, positioning, or road testing the vehicle to complete or verify the service.

12. COMMUNICATION DURING SERVICE

Customers should communicate any new symptoms, changes, warning lights, or other information that may be relevant to the service.

Carlton will communicate relevant information discovered during the appointment when it affects the service being performed.

Questions before or after the appointment can be sent through Facebook Messenger to Carlton The Mechanic. Service details, approvals, and repair documentation are kept in the Digital Repair Order and other written service records.

13. SERVICE COMPLETION

After the requested service is completed, Carlton will finish the appointment and provide a Digital Repair Order documenting the service performed.

The immediate work area will be left in an orderly condition after the service. Fluids and parts removed during service are contained and handled in accordance with applicable environmental regulations.

Carlton The Mechanic is not responsible for leaks, stains, or fluid spots that were already present at the service location before the appointment.

14. MOBILE SERVICE CONDITIONS

Mobile automotive service is performed at the vehicle's location rather than inside a traditional repair facility.

Because of this, the available workspace, vehicle location, access, weather, traffic, road conditions, and other circumstances can affect the timing and conditions of the appointment.

Carlton will work within the conditions available at the service location and make reasonable adjustments when circumstances affect the mobile service visit. If a service cannot be safely, professionally, or reasonably completed at the location, Carlton may postpone, discontinue, or refer the service.

Thank you for choosing Carlton The Mechanic.

Preparing the vehicle and service location ahead of time helps make your mobile appointment smoother, safer, and more efficient.
